1. 🏰 Live like a millionaire
The 4-Hour Work Week genuinely changed my life. I would easily put it on the most influential books I have read in my life, and it is one of few books I have gone out of my way to re-read over the years.
While I am fortunate enough to live a life similar to that Tim Ferriss envisioned - last year I lived mostly in Thailand, travelled to 10 new countries, made more money than ever before, and worked an average of just 8.55 hours per week - one of the biggest lessons it taught me was that I didn’t need to BE a millionaire in order to live like one.
You don't need to pay $300k to buy a supercar in order to drive one, you can just hire one for the day or race round the track for as little as $50.
You don't have to purchase a mansion or castle to enjoy a weekend in luxury; you can rent one on Airbnb or a similar platform for a fraction of the cost, sometimes as little as $100.
You don’t need to have generational wealth to enjoy the convenience of a maid or a butler, give yourself permission to pay for a cleaner, VA, or concierge (yes, you can rent those!).
Being financially rich and having the ability to live like a millionaire are fundamentally two very different things. Oftentimes, financially rich people don’t have enough freedom to live like a millionaire, yet “poorer” people do.
What would make you feel like a millionaire?
People rarely look into what it would actually cost to live like a millionaire.
Sit down to calculate the costs for the things you actually want to do and you will likely find that living like a millionaire is much cheaper than you think.
I am not giving you a blank cheque to blow your money, but I would like to give you permission to spend on some of the luxuries that will make a difference for you.
P.s. my clients often report that, after their investment in me, one of the most stress-reducing investments they make is in a cleaner. We often implement this early, with revenues as low as $2k per month, as having a cleaner frees up so much time and energy.
My clients could always have made that investment, but they didn’t give themselves permission to do something they saw as a luxury. Living poor was one thing that held them back from reaching success. Give yourself permission. Invest in yourself.

2. 🙋 A request for recommendations (win $250)
Who have been the best professionals you have worked with?
I am looking for noteworthy professionals that I may be able to cross-promote and collaborate with.
You know some great people, and I want to know about them.
Who have you had a good experience with? Who would you personally recommend?
I am looking for:
Coaches
Consultants
Therapists
Accountants
Ad agencies
Marketing and PR agencies
Business groups/communities
Course sellers
Lawyers
Business incorporation services
Financial advisors/wealth managers
VA agencies
…and any other professionals or services you have worked with that you think I should know about and you would recommend. From any country.
Reply to this email, tell me who you are recommending and why, and provide a link to their website or LinkedIn.
I am giving a $250 prize to someone who replies with a recommendation.
Each appropriate business or professional you recommend will count as one entry into the draw.
One winner will be picked at random at 14:00 UK time on Tuesday 16th April and the winner will be announced in the next Work Smart Wednesday on 17th April.
3. 💡 Quote I'm pondering
"What's money? A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and inbetween he does what he wants to do” - Bob Dylan
People forget that money is a tool. Having no money sucks, but having too much money can also suck.
Often, this is because people have forgotten what the point was - why are you bothering to make any money?
It seems like a frivolous question, but it is genuinely important to know. And to remind yourself of regularly.
It is far too easy to get caught up chasing numbers and to lose sight of what you’re doing. I like this perspective from Bob Dylan, remember why you wake up.
P.s. this could lead into a bigger point about how the language we use to describe ourself and our situation has a massive effect on motivation and procrastination. There is a big difference between telling yourself “I have to do x” vs “I get to do x” or “I choose to do x”. But that is a bigger post for another time…
That's it! I can't wait to hear what you think. What did you find most useful? What do you want more or less of? Reply to this email now and let me know
Also, if you have anything interesting to share, I want to know about it😊
Have a great week,
John

Great examples John. I like the you don’t need to be a millionaire to live like one. This is a great perspective to think about. Before I left for Thailand last year, I had to think differently in some ways to be able to identify the areas I didn’t have to worry as much and could enjoy life more. Thanks for expanding on this.
I’ll look into some recommendations as well, I have a few.
